The representation describes a shipwreck that occurred on the 7th July, 1796, due to a sudden storm with impetuous winds, shattering a ship that was heading to the Americas, throwing the crew and passengers overboard and thus leaving them at the mercy of the elements. Custódio Coelho Ferraz Moreira commended himself to the Virgin and managed to grab a piece of mast, which passed close by, being saved later. This representation is part of the poster of the Exhibition on Votive Panels of the River, the Sea and Overseas in the Maritime Museum, 1983.
